Small Grants Available

Do bikes get you going? Artistically that is.

Bike Again Community Bike Project has small grants for artists wanting to
create functional art from recycled bike parts! This is an exciting
opportunity for bikers, sculptors, jewellers, inventors, carpenters,
welders, set designers, art students, costume designers, and more.
Applications are expected to be short and simple. The deadline is Monday,
September 29.

Application Deadline ~ September 29, 2003
With the Grant You Get ~ up to $500; free bike bits; your art piece in our
Dec. art show
Requirements ~ short application with drawing, budget & your bio

Functional Bike Art Granting Criteria

Bike Again! has a grant fund, courtesy of NS Resource Recovery Fund Board,
to provide artists and artisans in NS with small grants to produce
functional art from reused bicycle parts. The beautiful and functional
pieces that result from these grants will be a testimony to the benefits
of value-added recycling.

A large supply of parts will be available once the grants have been
approved. Applicants may also need to supply their own used bicycle parts.

Successful artists will be required to have the work completed in time to
be part of a celebration and exhibition scheduled for early December 2003.

Application Requirements:
Applications should be brief and include: 
1) A summary of the skills and experience of the applicant
2) Drawings and/or descriptions of proposed artwork
3) A simple budget for time and materials, not to exceed $500 per
applicant

Criteria:
Submissions will be judged mainly on these three criteria: 
1) The experience and credibility of the applicant
2) The creativity of the idea or ideas
3) The functionality of the idea

Committee:
The granting committee is made up of local artists, entrepreneurs,
environmental activists and government representatives.

Applications must be received by Monday, September 29th, 2003.
