Greetings solidarity friends,

We are writing to you at this time to invite you to the Atlantic
Regional Solidarity Network gathering on December 5-7th, 2003 at the
Tatamagouche Centre. The theme of the weekend is "Solidarity in
Accompaniment". Some of you may recall previous ARSN meetings held in
New Brunswick and PEI. At the past Breaking the Silence Network meeting
held in Tatamagouche, solidarity activists involved in Guatemala and
other Latin American countries commited to reinitiating ARSN
activities. To that end, an initial planning and development committee
was organized and we are sending you this letter of invitation to
participate in the event and the planning of the activities.

The purpose of the weekend is to bring together many organizations and
individuals in Atlantic Canada who are involved or interested in
solidarity activities with Latin America. We hope to share analysis,
empower and animate ourselves for new or renewed activities. The theme
of Solidarity in Accompaniment allows us to examine the different ways
in which we express our solidarity with our Latin American brothers and
sisters; from protective accompaniment practices of human rights
defenders; to support networks which provide invaluable fundraising and
advocacy support and assistance; to education and awareness building
leading to stronger solidarity movements. During the weekend we will
also have an opportunity to hear analysis about the situation in
Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico and Cuba among others.

The registration for the weekend costs $35.00 and meals and
accomodations will be $105.00. Total costs of registration with meals
and accomodation is $140.00. We are particularily looking for
individuals involved in Mexican and Cuban solidarity to become involved
in the planning of the weekend. If you are interested please contact
Steve Law at sunroot@ns.sympatico.ca or call (902) 632-2497. To
register for the weekend contact 1-800-218-2220 or
tatacent@tatacentre.ca. Hope to see you there.

In solidarity,

Stephen Law & Judy Loo
ARSN planning committee
