Mindboggling.

There is a link below if you'd like to send Allan Rock an email.

DEMAND THAT A CANADIAN COMPANY CONDUCT THE CANADIAN CENSUS IN 2006,
NOT U.S. DEFENCE CONTRACTOR LOCKHEED MARTIN

To: All Vive le Canada.ca members and concerned Canadians

Hi folks,

As you may have read on http://www.vivelecanada.ca or in the Globe
and Mail,
Industry Minister Allan Rock has awarded U.S.-based defence contactor
Lockheed Martin the contract to help Statistics Canada prepare a 2005
test
run of the next Canadian census. Lockheed Martin, which manufactures
ballistic missiles and other weapons of mass destruction, is also a
prime
candidate to receive a contract to do the entire Canadian census in
2006.

Lockheed Martin's slogan is "We never forget who we're working for!"
The
Canadian Press reports that eighty per cent of Lockheed Martin's
business is
with the U.S. military and American government agencies.

Rock has stated that his hands are tied because the bidding process
"is cut
by the WTO and NAFTA (agreement), which requires that non-Canadian
firms get
to bid as well." In other words, the Americanization of the Canadian
census
is just another example of the Americanization of Canada under NAFTA
and
globalization. It's time to say enough is enough. Shouldn't
government
contracts go to Canadian companies?

Help us remind Industry Minister Allan Rock who he's working for--the
Canadian people. Vive le Canada.ca has developed an email form that
makes
it easy for you to tell Industry Minister Allan Rock that you don't
want the
federal government to pay a giant U.S. military contractor to gather
information about Canadian citizens, and that you're willing to
boycott the
2006 census should Lockheed Martin get the job.

you can also take a moment to personalize your message by editing the
sample
email.

We hope you'll also take a moment to forward this email on to your
email
contacts so that we can spread the word and get as many Canadians
involved
in this action as possible. Together, we can make a difference!
