Fellow Greens,
As you may already know, a federal election will soon be upon us. We
hope that you ve received our year-end fundraising letter and have already
taken the time to reply. Thank you in advance for continuing to support the
Green Party. We need your help now more than ever!
Throughout the past year, the Green Party has gained significant ground
in various elections across the country, and although there are no Green MPs
just yet, many Greens have been elected to serve on municipal councils.
Currently, the Green Party of Canada stands at 5 per cent in the polls.
Given that this was the first time that the GPC has been considered a
separate party in a major nation-wide poll, it seems we are on the verge of
an historic breakthrough.
Hopefully, this will be the last fundraising drive for the GPC. The
recently passed Bill C-24, which takes effect January 1st, 2004, states that
any party receiving at least 2 per cent of the vote nation-wide will receive
$1.75 per vote, per year. Please consider donating whatever you can to
ensure that the Green Party of Canada receives the precious funding it
deserves. There is no better time to donate/join/renew your membership than
right now.
If your contribution is in the mail by December 31st, you will receive
75% back in the form of a tax credit, which you can reclaim when you file
your taxes in the new year. This rule applies for all donations up to $400.
For donations between $401-$750, you will receive a credit of $300 (from the
first $400), plus an additional 50% of the amount over $400. A donation of
$500, for instance, would actually cost you only $150!
The GPC s goal is to field North America s first full slate of Green
Party candidates. Please do what you can by donating some time or money to
this all-important cause, and do not forget to urge everyone you know to
vote Green!
The future of the Green Party of Canada is in our hands.
