The folks at TRAX have put together a series of counterpoints to some of
the false and misleading statements issued by
the Urban Development Institute regarding the 90 day moratorium put in
place by HRM.
     http://www.trax.ns.ca

There will be a public hearing at HRM council on March 30 to vote
on a longer term moratorium that will be in place until
the regional planning process is complete. The EAC is backing
alternative #2, as the choice for council to pass into law. It is the
best option available, although council can place tighter restrictions
on development if they wish.. Councillors emails can be found at:

http://www.halifax.ca/districts/council.html. I would like to suggest
that folks could post any responses from their councillor on sustmar, so
others can see where council stands on this issue

If you are a member of a resident association or other non
environmental group, and you are concerned about how HRM is developing,
the urban issues comittee at EAC wants to hear from you.
