NDP Head of the Class with Greenpeace Report Card

OTTAWA — Jack Layton and today’s NDP are offering voters the most
environmentally responsible choice in this election, according to a “Vote
Earth” campaign report card released by Greenpeace today.

“Voters have a clear choice in this election after 10 years of Liberal cuts
and broken promises,” said Layton. “If you want a cleaner environment and a
better democracy, this is the election to vote NDP.”

The report card, available here, focuses on seven questions focusing on
commitments to developing wind energy, labeling of genetically modified
foods, protecting endangered species, expanding protected areas and opposing
America’s Star Wars Missile Defence system. All other parties faired worse,
including the Green Party. The Conservatives were graded an F on all subject
areas, including energy, food, nature and peace.

“We thank Greenpeace for recognizing our vision to build a green and
prosperous economy, and we’re sure Canadians will feel the same way,” Layton
said.
