Grandma Noda’s Tigers
Stripes on moonlight. Stripes on daylight.

On the land that the Noda family has owned for as long as anyone can
remember there’s an apartment building that Mr. Noda owns. And a
stereo shop that Mr. Noda owns. And in between them is a tiny, little
brown building that looks like a Japanese temple. That’s where
Grandma Noda lives. And so do her tigers.

Mr.Noda wants to tear it down. To build something else…something
newer, and better. But Grandma Noda doesn’t want to leave her little
house, and neither do her tigers. If only they would understand that
Mr. Noda just wants what’s best for everyone – progress. What will he
do? How can he get them out, and when he does, where will they all
go?

Through this fable about one family in modern Japan, we find a
universal story about the conflict between perceived progress and
tradition.

The Irondale Ensemble Project is pleased to present this beautiful
outdoor theatre event for families and children. The story is told
by a cast of three actors and many puppets.
