Subject: GREEN shadow critic for Agriculture&Food to visit Halifax

Well known organic foods advocate and columnist on the 'Politics of
Food' , Tom Manley ,in Halifax to promote his Vision, if he becomes
Leader of the national GREENS
***********************************************************

Tom Manley operates Homestead Organics, a service for organic farmers in
eastern Ontario and western Quebec,providing them with specializied
services like a a grain elevator and mill.

He is an active public speaker on organic foods and a strong critic of
the Politics of Food ;The Ontario and National Food and Agriculture
shadow critic for the Green Party, a two time party candidate and now
wants to lead the national GREENS.

As part of a coast to coast tour, Tom will be in Halifax from Tuesday
evening August 3rd till the afternoon of Wednesday August 4th.

He would like to meet as many people as possible who are interested in
organic food,green politics and ending the way we run-Down this planet.

We plan to have supper with Tom at the Heartwood Bakery,6250
Quinpool Road at 6pm Tueday night.Everyone interested is welcome to
attend.After supper,Geordie Ouchterlony will show Tom and us around his
business "Home Grown Organic Foods" (HGOF) on 6186 B Allan St .

Next morning, we plan to take Tom to as many Halifax area organic stores
,farms and facilties that are open midmorning ( and many are not) ,
hoping some media will tag along.Anyone who wants to meet Tom can also
tag alongside:

Great Oceans Foods,6485 Quinpool Rd at 9 AM ;the Urban Farm site
(back of Captain Spry Community Centre,10 Kidston Road, Spryfield) at
10AM. At 11Am, Jill, a volunteer at the GRAINERY Co-op,2385 Agricola 
Street,(and ain't that an appropriate street name !) will show Tom and
us around.


We plan to eat lunch at 12 PM noon at the new restaurant, the Wooden
Monkey on Argyle Street,across from the herald..like Heartwood it
focuses on locally grown organic food.

All are welcome to come and eat good food in pleasant
surroundings with like-minded company.
