Thanks! ____________________________________________________________________________ ~~~ Please circulate ~~~ International Car Free Day (Sept. 22) is just around the corner, and we at TRAX are all abuzz with anticipation as our communications materials circulate around town. Have you seen them yet? In Halifax we will honour the occasion with a newspaper tabloid, a movie night, a public forum, a parade and a party. Our goal is to consider, in a public and engaging way, the economic, environmental and social impacts of car use in our city. We will also explore attractive and plausible alternatives to our car-dependent culture, such as mixed-use urban design, active transportation, public transport, etc. We'd like to invite you to participate in Car Free Day in a number of ways. The Mayor is proclaiming Car Free Day at Council meeting on Sept. 14, and inviting residents of the HRM to not drive on Sept. 22. We hope to see you at one or all of the Car Free Day events we're organizing. And if you're organizing your own Car Free Day event, let us know.
