This fall, Tatamagouche Centre is pleased to offer the following two courses
for personal and organizational development towards a more inclusive, just
and peaceful world:

--> Challenging Racism and Oppression in your Work and Life
October 27, Wed. 9:30 am - 4:30 pm.

In our workplaces we are often confronted with the tough challenges of
racism, sexism, homophobia, and other oppressions, whether systemic in our
institutions or more personally in colleagues or clients. Join us to
challenge these issues in an interactive, non-threatening participatory
style using films, role-plays, handouts and great discussions. Participants
will explore their own and society's biases as we begin to unpack the
invisible knapsack. Discussions will centre on the oppression of persons
such as those of African descent, First Nations, gay, lesbian, bi-sexual,
women, new Canadians, persons with disabilities and others. Learn to develop
space and policies that promote openness and safety for all members of our
community.

Leadership: Barbara Hamilton-Hinch is the Advisor for the Black Student
Advising Centre for Dalhousie University. She has a B.Sc. and M.A, and will
be pursuing an interdisciplinary PhD at Dalhousie. She has extensive
experience educating adults to deal with racism, and issues affecting people
of African descent, and oppressed people in general.
Cost: $75 includes registration, lunch and snacks. Bursaries Available

---> The Myers Briggs Type Indicator Today: Valuing Differences
November 12 - 13, Fri. 7 pm - Sat. 4 pm

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is one of the best known and
respected tools for increasing self and organizational awareness. After
World War II, Isabel Myers sought a way to help people understand each other
rather than be in conflict. The purpose is to help us name and value our
differences, with clear implications for creating healthy organizations and
a culture of peace. The applications are many including in work situations,
team building, conflict work, relationship counseling and
self-understanding. The MBTI has been extensively revised in the past few
years and participants will be asked to complete the new form as part of the
workshop.

Leadership: Marg Brown is a consultant in organizational development, a
therapist, and adult educator. She is studying in the In-Ministry program
for ordination within the United Church of Canada at the Atlantic School of
Theology and is a member of Tatamagouche Centre's Program Resource Group;
and Don Murray, Program Resource Group member.
Cost: $145 (includes room, board plus materials and test) Bursaries
available!
