The Nova Scotia chapter of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada
(IPAC) is pleased to announce its second Luncheon presentation of the year:

The Nova Scotia Sustainable Cities Initiative:
Innovative Solutions for a Changing World

Speakers are:
Jim Stanley (SCI Provincial Co-Chair)
Jim Ellsworth (SCI Federal Co-Chair)

Information about the Initiative:

Many issues affecting the sustainability of a community go beyond one
department, one level of government, one budget source, or one interest group.
To address the complex and inter-related problems, a broad-based approach is
needed that involves many stakeholders and takes into account the
inter-relationship between environmental, economic, social and cultural
concerns.

The Nova Scotia Sustainable Communities Initiative (SCI) is an innovative plan
for governments to work in a new, more integrated way with one other, and with
communities, to address sustainability issues. SCI is a partnership of more
than 40 federal, provincial, municipal and First Nations organizations. Formed
in late 1999, it is dedicated to supporting communities through a collaborative
approach that integrates social, cultural, economic and environmental policies
and programs.

The Nova Scotia Sustainable Communities Initiative (SCI) has won an award for
innovative management from IPAC. (more information available at:
http://www.gov.ns.ca/news/details.asp?id=20040924005 )

Price:
$15 IPAC members/ Students
$20 Non-members
