NOVA SCOTIA RECYCLES CONTEST

RRFB Nova Scotia is reminding students and teachers across the province
about the 5th annual Nova Scotia Recycles Contest. The contest is open to
students in grades primary to twelve. Entries must be postmarked by Monday,
December 6th, 2004.

There is more than $28,000 in cash and prizes available to winning students
and their schools. Prizes range from backpacks and recycled promotional
items to $1,000 scholarships for grade twelve students. Schools of winning
students in grades primary to eleven will receive a $500 cash prize.

There are different contests for different grade levels but all have the
same common element – they challenge students to think about the 3R’s
(reduce, reuse, recycle) and composting. The contests include students
developing an advertisement using old magazines, creating a design for a
reusable lunch bag, writing essays on increasing waste diversion in Nova
Scotia, and more.

Contest details are available on RRFB Nova Scotia’s website at www.rrfb.com
or by calling the toll-free Recycling Helpline at 1-877-313-RRFB (7732).
For more information contact Alanna Nelson, Education Officer, RRFB Nova
Scotia, (902) 897-3252.
