                               .
Greetings Canadian Energy Actioners!

Please join us on Friday, April 1, and be one of thousands of people
across the U.S., Canada and the U.K. coming together as part of the *2nd
Annual Fossil Fools Day*. Last year, some 130 actions were organized to
demand
clean and renewable energy. This year, you can help us reach the goal
of 360 events by organizing a Fossil Fools Day event on your campus.

*TAKE ACTION: *To learn more about organizing an action, or to register
an
event, please visit, http://www.energyaction.net.

Fossil Fools Day is an opportunity for students and youth to show
strongsupport for clean energy solutions over fossil fuel addiction.

If you have questions about Fossil Fools Day, please contact:
billy@energyaction.net.

*WHAT YOU CAN DO: *Some ideas for actions to take on April 1st...

*Adopt a Ford Dealer Near You!* Ford Motor Company has the worst fuel
economy in the automakers industry. By enlisting local Ford dealers as
allies, we can convince corporate
decision makers that there is a demand for fuel-efficient and
zero-emission
vehicles. Download an Adopt-a-Dealer action kit at
http://www.energyaction.net.
For Canadian Adopt a dealer info and materials please contact
katewoznow@yahoo.com
*Also, the first 50 local groups who commit to participating in the
Adopt-a-Dealer campaign will receive an eye-catching pre-stenciled
banner you can use at your dealership actions.

*Expose a Fossil Fool!*
There are so many people holding back progress, it's hard to pick just
one. Will it be Dick Cheney? Peabody Coal? John Efford? Kenneth Lay?
Organize an action on your campus that will expose a local or national
Fossil Fool.
Be creative. If your action focuses on climate change or clean energy,
we want
it to be part of Fossil Fools Day. Register your event at
http://www.energyaction.net.

*Tell Automakers to Innovate, not Litigate!*
Automakers are currently locked in negotiations with the federal
government about voluntary standards to regulate carbon emissions from
are their
vehicles. The feds have been considering putting regulation (with
penalties)
in place but are shying away from this option. On April 1st send a
message to the federal government to follow California’s example and
REGULATE!!

In the U.S., car manufacturers are foolishly fighting progress when
they could be reaping the benefits of technological innovation. The auto
corporations are trying to block a landmark policy in California as
well as prevent one
being proposed in Canada that would require a reduction in carbon
emissions.
Send a message to the CEOs of the auto companies through Environmental
Defense's website at
http://actionnetwork.org/campaign/car_company_lawsuit?
source=energyaction or send a letter to the Canadian Government
encouraging
them to stand strong and not back down to corporate demands! Draft
letters will be posted soon on the Energy Action website -
www.energyaction.net

*Pass a Green Fleet Resolution On Your Campus!*
You can launch a campaign on your campus to green the vehicle fleets of
your university. Campuses can replace old dirty cars with hybrid,
electric, and biodiesel vehicles to show how cost efficient and easy it
is to be
an energy innovator. Download a Green Fleets action kit at
http://www.energyaction.net.

*Nukes of Hazard - No to Lepreau, Non ŕ Lepreau*
Despite commissioned reports advising against it and alternate
proposals by leading environmental groups, the government of New
Brunswick continues
to entertain the idea of refurbishing Point Lepreau, the province's
single
nuclear facility. The price tag of refurbishment has been estimated at
an
astronomical $1.3 Billion. This is a financial burden that no
generation of
taxpayers should ever have to assume. Let's not allow the climate
movement to be
co-opted by the deeply invested nuclear industry. Don't be fooled,
nuclear is no
solution to the destabilization of our climate. It is a concern to both
human
health and public security and we have yet to find an acceptable method
of
disposing of its waste.
It is time for large scale energy projects to come to an end. Sign on
to the New Brunswick Environmental Network's Action alert or download
postcards atwww.energyaction.net and avoid the green glow of false hope.
The action alert can be accessed at:
www.web.ca/nben/fax/campaigns/energy/energy_fax.htm
We need to stand up and show that we will be safer, healthier and
wealthier with energy innovation!
