WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK: SIGN UP NOW
International Walk to School Week happens this year from October 3 to 7.
Last year 100 schools in Nova Scotia participated. They walked for
environment, health, physical activity and traffic safety. By signing up
early, schools can plan ahead for a terrific event in the fall.
Just for registering schools will enter a draw for an educational board
game. Even more prizes are to be won for schools with high participation
rates, including a bike rack from Timbertec Inc., 3MT ScotchliteT Reflective
Material armbands for all students, or a Teaching About Climate Change book
and an Ecology Action Centre membership. Thanks to Go for Green, Timbertec
Inc. and 3M for their generous donations. Schools may register online at
www.goforgreen.ca/walktoschool/reg/step1.aro or by contacting the
coordinator at (902) 442-5055 or asrts@ecologyaction.ca.
International Walk to School Week is a component of Active & Safe Routes to
School, which encourages the use of active modes of transportation to
school, such as walking and cycling. It is a national Go for Green program
coordinated in Nova Scotia by the Ecology Action Centre in partnership with
the Physical Activity, Sport and Recreation Program Area of Nova Scotia
