Come celebrate Canada Day with a hike along the McIntosh Run!
The McIntosh Run Watershed Association has constructed a 7 km section of
trail between Herring Cove and Spryfield along the McIntosh Run. We are
sponsoring a hike along the new trail and a picnic in Spryfield following
the hike to celebrate Canada Day. It's a beautiful route along two lakes and
some of the most scenic parts of the Run in the heart of the Herring Cove
Backlands, so we hope you'll be among the first to walk the trail all the
way through!
Meet at the water pipeline service road off Purcell's Cove Road at 9:30 am
on Friday, July 1. This is a gated gravel road about 200 m north of the Look
Off parking area in Herring Cove. There will be signs.
If you are taking the bus, get off the #20 at the corner of St. Paul's and
Hebridean Dr., and head down Hebridean. Follow the main road for about 20
minutes, past Powers Pond and the Look Off parking area, until you reach the
gravel road on your left (about 500 m past the Look Off).
This is a rugged, unfinished trail and may be buggy, so please wear long
pants and sturdy shoes or hiking boots. Bring water and a snack. The hike
will take 2-3 hours.
If you have questions please contact Kaarin Tae at 477-1604.
