Organic Inspector Training
Sat Oct 15 to Sat Oct 22, 2005
at Falls Brook Centre, Knowlesville, NB
http://www.fallsbrookcentre.ca/agriculture/ioia.htm

Application deadline: Sept 1, 2005

For only the second time in four years, the Independent
Organic Inspector Association (IOIA) will be delivering
both of their Basic Organic Inspector Trainings in Atlantic
Canada October 15-22, 2005.

Successful graduates are equipped with concrete skills and
expertise in organic farm and process certification and are
eligible to begin working as organic inspectors.

These courses present an intensive in-depth exploration of
certified organic farming and processing, identifying key
control points in organic systems. Participants will be well
prepared for upcoming changes in Canadian certification
policy, with skills in:
- US (NOP) and Canadian national organic standards
interpretation
- Investigative and report writing skills
- Conduction of audit trails and field inspections

Applications for the 2005 IOIA Basic Organic Farm and
Process Inspector training courses are now being accepted!

The training will be held at Falls Brook Centre in
Knowlesville, New Brunswick and will include two
consecutive 4 day courses: Basic Farm Inspector (October
15-18) and Basic Process Inspector (October 19-22).

Teaching methods include classroom instruction by
Canadian Organic Growers President, Janine Gibson,
field trips to local organic farms and processors, mock
inspections with reports, and examinations. Class size is
limited to maintain a high level of interaction between
students and instructors, guest presenters and field trip
hosts.

Registration for both courses is $2830 CDN plus $56
for IOIA required training manual (individual course:
$1415 CDN plus manual) which includes all meals and
accommodations.

Falls Brook Centre is set in the rolling hills of the Saint
John River Valley, nestled in the Acadian forest.
Accommodations are rustic yet comfortable, focused
on sustainable living and resource conservation.

Registrations accepted no later than September 1st.
