Obituary
Karen Rose (Perry) Clarke
Karen was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia and as a true Maritimer, never left. Growing up in the Westend of Halifax, she had the perfect childhood with the most loving parents and sisters. Karen enjoyed singing in the choir, many family camping trips and many, many shopping trips to the Eastern US with family. Karen attended and graduated from Saint Mary’s University. She found her true passion and calling as a teacher. She taught at all levels from elementary to high school, but then found her love of reading and books to allow her to become a librarian. She took a great joy in reading to the elementary children and was well versed in the sharing of great stories to them. She had such a true love for children. Karen and her former spouse William (Bill) Clarke welcomed their daughter, Kathryn “Katie” Rose Clarke in 1984. From that moment on, Karen devoted everything to her daughter. In the years following, Karen faced many challenges with being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Her positive attitude and perseverance were a true inspiration to anyone she met. She enjoyed writing and painting during that time as it brought her much comfort. Most recently, as Karen faced many health challenges, she made a home at Oceanview. Only there a short time, her impact on staff and residents was heartfelt. She was so happy being there and it brought much comfort to her family. Karen is survived by her cherished daughter Kathryn “Katie” Rose Clarke (Kevin Pearce) who was her pride and joy, her guiding light and her most treasured accomplishment. Her very dear and precious granddaughters, Kendra & Kaylee Pearce. Karen’s memory will forever be honored by her loving sisters, Sharman Sampson (Robert), Diane Wesley (Jay), Marilyn Mazerolle (David), Joy Higgins (Kirk) and very dear friend Heather McNeil (Kevin) as well as her former spouse Bill Clarke. Karen leaves many nieces and nephews to which she adored and loved. Predeceased by her loving parents, Myrtle and Laurence “Lonny” Perry. A sincere and heartfelt thank you to all the staff and residents at Oceanview. The care, compassion, dignity and support you gave to Karen and her family will never be forgotten. As we say goodbye to Karen, we celebrate the life of a woman who was a beacon of kindness and love. Her legacy is one of unwavering devotion to her daughter and granddaughters, a testament to the beautiful life she lived and the countless lives she touched. Karen’s memory will be treasured forever as we hold her close in our hearts and remember the light she brought into this world. Donations may be made in memory to Oceanview Recreation Department or a charity of your choice. |
