Subject: Sutherland's Statue

Hi Janet,

The March 'Scots Magazine' has just arrived here and the main editorial is a strong case for keeping Sutherland's statue on its plinth.

The writer is far from sympathetic to the bastard and I recommend you reading it, if you haven't already. Nonetheless I'd still rather blow the thing up.

Can't remember whether or not I let you know that my local articles have convinced the Bundanoon Highland Games organisers that the Kirkin' tale is a load of garbage. They plan to maintain an ecumenical service but from this year on it will commemorate the restoration of the tartan, no mention will be made of the bits o' tartan rubbish. Now who can I do over next?

Le Beannachd

Tom
