flitted: Highland Scottish word, meaning "moved"; also used in the Lowlands. In his book, SCOOR-OOT: A Dictionary of Scots Words and Phrases in Current Use, James A. C. Stevenson defines flit as: "General Scots for to move, bag and baggage, from one dwelling to another .... `Flit' has been in Scots since the 14th century. It is from an Old Norse word for to transport or migrate."
