As Lay Director of the Anglican
Cursillo Movement in our Diocese of Nova Scotia and
Prince Edward Island, I welcome you to our website. I
feel confident you will find the information about our
Cursillo Movement informative and helpful.
I attended the 24th
Women’s Cursillo Weekend in May 2003 at St. James Church
in Kentville, Nova Scotia, where I sat at the Table of
St. Wisdom. Cursillo for me has been an ongoing growing
experience and I have received much support and love
from the Cursillo Community.
Cursillo begins with
a three day weekend that offers us the tools to be a
Christian in today’s world and assists us to deepen our
walk with Christ. After the weekend, Cursillo provides
us support to maintain the tools we have been given on
our weekend. Two of those are Ultreya and Group
Reunion.
a)
Ultreyas
are Christ centered rather than Cursillo centered, and
they concentrate on Jesus working within each of us to
bring the whole world to Him. The Ultreya links
Christians together, helping them to grow, united by
their faith in Jesus Christ and living out their
baptism. A place where Cursillistas support one another
through sharing and witnessing, and where new
Cursillistas are welcomed into the larger Cursillo
community finding strength and courage to take Jesus
Christ back into the happenings of everyday life, and to
evangelize their environments. The theme for all
Ultreyas is “transforming the world for Christ”.
Our responsibility is to radiate the love and joy of
Christ in our normal surroundings, to allow God to
expand our lives to the fullest.
b)
Group Reunion is
a small gathering of friends usually on a weekly or a
scheduled basis. This is where we can share and
experience our daily Christian walk with each other. The love,
support and encouragement shared with these friends
keeps us connected and fosters spiritual growth within
each of us.
I have been blessed
to be part of a Group Reunion since the fall of 2005.
Our group meets every second Wednesday evening, and it
has evolved over time with several members there from
its beginning in 2002. Being a member of a
Group Reunion provides me with great Christian
fellowship and personal spiritual growth.
Plans for our
Movement’s year ahead include Spring weekends
in Kentville, Nova Scotia and possibly holding Grand
Ultreyas and a Day of Enrichment or a combination of
both throughout our Diocese.
As Lay Director, I am
delighted
to be serving God through the
Cursillo Movement. I look forward to meeting you at our
Ultreyas and other Cursillo events throughout our
Diocese. Also, I would
be happy to discuss Group Reunion with you and to assist
you in starting your own Group Reunion. If you have any
comments, questions, or concerns please feel free to
contact me.
Cursillo
offers us many opportunities to use our gifts and to
experience love and fellowship in our own environments.
“Let us go forth and make disciples of all nations”.
(Matthew 28:19)
