Teams listed generally in order of finish in tournament
John Mills john_mills@sport.bc.ca sent in the details for 1970 and 1972. John played for those UBC championship teams.

Cam Lacivita tdevgwin@mnsi.net reminded us that Windsor was originally called Assumption, so won 5 CIAU titles rather than the 4 we reported. He played for Windsor 80-81-82-83, with 3 straight trips to the Nationals.

Similarly, the Concordia dynasty in Quebec would be even longer if one counted the appearances in the nationals by Loyola and Sir George Williams, two schools that were part of the merger that became Concordia.

Championship NOTES OF INTEREST by Year

1983-1986
Four participants were winners of four 4-team regional tournaments.
The regionals each had teams from other conferences. See details under Scores for these years. Detailed notes provided by long-time Final8 PA Announcer Gary Holt <garyholt@ns.sympatico.ca >
1978
tourney was thu-fri-sat in brand new Halifax Metro Centre
had a 3rd place game as well as consolation on Sat.
Final had 11,000. MC seats 9600 for hockey, +500 floor seats +1,000 standing room. Most SR got in without tickets when they broke through a barrier, and occupied the mid-level walkway throught the game, the police and fire marshall kept them walking throughout...
1977
in Halifax Forum Attend: Fri Nite 4500 Sat Nite 4500 Sun 5000
Atlantic had 3 teams: host SMU, Atl Champ Acadia, Atl Finalist UPEI
Lakehead was from Great Plains Conference
1974
Champion Guelph accepted a wild card invitation at the last moment after McMaster had turned down the invitation. Mac had not been playing well and felt they did not deserve to be in the tournament. After that year the CIAU began requiring teams to submit formal applications to be considered as wild cards. It took 21 years for the next wild card win, by Alberta in 1995.
1969
TEAM CONFERENCE

Acadia Atlantic
1967-1971
These years had 5-team unbalanced draw due to 5 conferences. E.g. here is 1969. We are unsure of how the teams were slotted into the draw. Someone wrote and said that last year's champ was placed in the short side of the draw, like Windsor below
