I moved to Halifax in 1978 to work
on a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Nova Scotia
College of Art and Design. Following my graduation I owned and operated a
small cafe - Cafe Quelque Chose - in Halifax until I sold it in 1985. I have worked
as a dietetic supervisor at a local hospital, restaurant manager, textile artist,
and fitness instructor with the Halifax Metro YMCA. Since 1987 I have worked for
the Nova Scotia Choral Federation as Program
Coordinator and more recently Executive Director. I have the pleasure of working
with choristers and volunteers of all ages through our many programs and services.
I enjoy the work very much.
In my "off time" I do volunteer work,
design and layout brochures and newsletters. I enjoyed renovating and maintaining
a 120 year old downtown house I shared with Dan my partner of twenty years until
his death in December 1998. We shared a great life and he continues to inspire
me. I miss Dan very much but he lives on in me everyday. When one door closes
another opens. In 2002-03 my new partner Thomas and I designed and built a house
on the eastern shore of Nova Scotia. Although I miss the old place and being
in the heart of the city, I'm also enjoying our new home. We have lots of windows
overlooking the water,
a new garden to develop,
trees and waterfront to maintain, as well as trails along the ocean side bluffs
and beaches minutes away.
In December of 2003 Thomas and I went
to Toronto and got married. How the world has changed! I feel very fortunate
to have two wonderful men in my life - past and present. I continue to do bits
of work in textile art and sculpture, and photography. I belong to Nova Voce,
a new mens choir and of course I enjoy the net very much. I also make
time in my life for gardening, visual & performing arts, fitness, travel and
people. I am blessed with many good friends and family.
