My Barebones Home Studio!

These are some of the basic tools people are using in one of Canada's fastest growing home spun enterprises!  There are a number of products to choose from for the home studio.  The most popular items are the digital tracking/mixer and the home computer.  The home computer has finally advanced to the point where software can handle a number of mixing/editing tasks in a short time.

There are a number of software packages out there to take care of your home mixing needs.  A few of the big names are; Cubase Virtual Studio, Cool Edit Pro, Pro Tools, Acid, Sound Forge and many others!  I use an older version of Cool Edit Pro for my mixing needs.

As for my setup I can record eight different instruments at the same time using my  Fostex VF16 16/24 track and route the signal out to headphones for silent practicing.  This is a very basic setup.  The real work is done by my small rack effect units and my Fostex VF16.  Final mixdown can be done on either my home computers or with the VF16 itself.

There are a number of items missing from this rack.  I currently have a Behringer HA4600, Behringer Virtualizer Pro and an ART 4X4 power conditioner on order.
