" New music 2 "
I remember doing a show like this last year, so we'll call this my second-annual New Music show, where I haul out records and albums that I've bought but never player, or just never on the show. This is largely due to my finding six great new albums (for ninety nine cents each!) at the Salvation Army yesterday.
Also, Marlene Ma came on as a special guest-host and I played some of her music (and also a recording of Robert Munsch reading his story Thomas's Snowsuit).
Songs played:
" New music " performed by the cast of Ragtime, from the original concept album
" We're two song and dance men " performed by Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire
" On the good ship Lollipop " performed by Shirley Temple
" I want to be happy (including the three minutes of tap-dancing at the end) " performed by Jack Gilford and Susan Watson from No No Nanette
" To life " performed by Topol and the ensemble from the movie version of Fiddler on the Roof
" Shall we dance? " performed by Gertrude Lawrence and Yul Brynner from the original 1951 recording of The King and I
" I enjoy being a girl " performed by Pat Suzuki from Flower Drum Song
" Singin' in the rain " performed by Sammy Davis, Jr.
" Brotherhood of man " performed by Robert Morse from How to succeed in business without really trying
" Mu-cha-cha " performed by Judy Holliday from Bells Are Ringing
" I wish I were in love again " performed by Tony Bennett
