Over the Rainbow
Showdate July 28, 2001

I played funky music from funky musicals of the late 60s/early 70s, inspired by my enjoyment of the funky new Austin Powers movie, and the funky fabulousness of the album Purlie, which my friend Caroline got for me for 50 cents at the always funky Sally Ann.

Funky songs played:

" New fangled preacher man ", " Skinnin' a cat ", and " The harder they fall " performed by Cleavon Little, Sherman Helmsley, and Melba Moore from the OCR of Purlie

" Heaven on their minds " performed by Murray Head from the original concept recording of Jesus Christ Superstar

" Superstar " performed by Ben Vereen from the OCR of Jesus Christ Superstar

" Simple joys " performed by Ben Vereen from the OCR of Pippin

" That's a very interesting question ", " I'd like to be a rose ", " To whom it may concern me ", and " Night letter " performed by Raul Julia, Clifton Davis, and Jonelle Allen from the OCR of Two Gentlemen of Verona

" I'm on my way to the top " and " The now generation " from the OCR of Your Own Thing

" Rich man's frug " from the OCR of Sweet Charity

" Upstairs " and " Knowing when to leave " performed by Jerry Orbach and Jill O'Hara from the OCR of Promises, Promises

" 3-5-0-0 ", " What a piece of work is man ", " Good morning starshine ", and "The Bed " from the OCR of Hair

" Prepare ye the way of the lord " from the OCR of Godspell
