Of all of my siblings, I was the only one born in Mexico. My Mom, Mary Ellen Leslie/Gutierrez and my Dad, Courtney Henry Foster settled in Toronto, Canada. After a few years, my Mom was very homesick and planned a trip to Mexico to see her Mom, Zulema Belen Gutierrez/Zertuche and her Dad, Edwin Millet Leslie/Webb and sisters. After all the arrangements were made, she found out she was pregnant (with me).

Her doctor told her that it was very possible that she would lose the baby if she took the trip. (In those days (1935), it was a train to New York city, a boat across the Gulf of Mexico to Veracruz and another train to Mexico City!) My sister, Mary, was under a year old. My Mom still tells me that she was determined to go, even if she lost the baby!! Well, I made it, and came back to Toronto to "meet" my Daddy at 3 months old. Mom was cured of her homesickness!

I graduated after 4 years of High School. In those days (l950's) a woman had a choice -- teacher, secretary, nurse, housewife! I just wanted to be a housewife and Mother....and got my wish. I have four children and four grandchildren whom I love with a passion. Unfortunately, my marriage of 29 years to Ray Vanderburgh broke up.

Soon after, I met Jack Henshaw and we have lots of fun with our children and grandchildren and lots of friends. My hobbies are cooking, sewing, art, and jogging. I was a stay-at-home Mom for 20 years and in the work place for 20 years. Retirement is great...I do volunteer work at a hospital, am a regular blood donor, and canvass for a favourite charity each year.

My happiest times are with FAMILY.
