Dear Family:
There is a saying...Better late than ever. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Also, I would like to welcome the members of the family that have
recently
acquired an e-mail address. Our list is getting bigger and bigger!
It is wonderful to be able to write to all of you again. I am sorry I
had
not written before, but I wanted to have more information concerning
Hotels for our Reunion. We have had a little problem with the dates and
location, due to the fact that during that time there are a lot of
conventions going on, so we have to accommodate in the best way we can.
We are a mini convention, so they give priority to the big ones, but
nevertheless, I think you will like what I have for you.
We have checked with the Radisson, Hilton, Marriot and Holiday Inn.
Unfortunately there are no rooms available in their hotels downtown, but
the Radisson Airport is our best choice. The hotel seems to be a
beautiful hotel, it is adjacent to Missouri's l argest indoor shopping
mall, and minutes away from three casinos.
The architecture features a glass enclosed eight story atrium with a
waterfall as its focal point. The wide open airy design lets light flood
the pool and restaurant area. The inside balcony rooms offer a
breathtaking view.
Free airport shuttle, free parking, free Shuttle service to Metro Link,
free USA Today Newspaper, indoor pool, and many more amenities. But the
best of all, are the room prices! They are giving us a Group Rate of
$69.00 king bedded room, $79.00 two doub le beds (up to four people in the
room) $10.00 a rollaway bed per night, plus tax. Children under 18 are
FREE! Deposit of one night is required for each room reservation.
Compared to the other ones from $139 to $150 or more per night!
We could also have a hospitality room for our use from Friday night to
Sunday afternoon, where we can bring our own food and beverages, the hotel
will only provide ice, tables and chairs. The prices vary depending on the
size of the room and it goes from $150 (460 square feet) to $$350 (1100
square feet), plus sales tax of 6.475% and 19% service charge.
If we decide to have our Dinner Banquet in that room, they will provide
it
at a cost of $23.00 per person, children (4-12 years) $14.00 and under 3
years Free. These prices include 19% service charge and sales tax.
It is a Dinner Buffet which includes choice of two salads, choice of
two:
baked ham, baked chicken, Fried chicken, beef au jus, barbecue chicken or
beef, or fried catfish. Choice of two: macaroni and cheese, mashed
potatoes, baked beans, corn Medley, ric e pilaf, or green beans. Warm
rolls with butter and corn bread, chef's selection of pies and cakes,
freshly brewed coffee, decaffeinated coffee, iced tea and milk.
We could also have a "Cash Bar" if so you desire, where each one will
purchase tickets from a cashier and present them to the bartender for the
desired beverage. Prices are from $3.75 to $4.25 per drink, depending on
what you ask for. Juice: $2.75. Sod a and Mineral water: $2.00.
Domestic Beer $3.75 and Imported beer: $4.25. Wine, by the glass $4.50
For breakfast, they told me they could arrange a separate area in the
dinning room for our group and each one pays for their own, buffet or a la
carte.
I think that is all the information you need to know for now, regarding
hotel. We need to confirm IMMEDIATELY, how many rooms we need, so they
can block them, and after that, start sending our Deposits.
You need to tell me as soon as possible, this same week, how many rooms
your family will need in order for me to block them.
I still have not received information regarding city tours, so as soon
as
I have something I will pass it on.
Also, I am including the list of e-mail addresses I have, so you can
review it and if you know of someone in the family that we can contact
through this wonderful media, please tell me so I can send this
information to them. Also, I would like for you to start contacting
everyone, don't wait until the reunion to meet everyone, it is so much fun
to introduce yourself to a complete stranger and tell him or her you are a
long forgotten cousin and start talking about your family, your work, your
hobbies! Tr y it and you'll see.
And PLEASE, ask everyone in your family if they have already send the
survey sheet we need for the Family Tree Album. I would hate for someone
to be left out. Also, ask them if they have been receiving the
information regarding the Reunion, if not, plea se make it available to
them. Print this e-mail and have it ready for anyone. If anyone needs a
Survey Sheet, I can send it via fax, e-mail or snail mail.
Here is the list of e-mail addresses:
As you can see, we are 29 different families that we can reach through
e-mail. Help me in reaching the ones that do not have e-mail but you can
give a copy of this e-mail or any other information, because you see them
frequently or you know their fax numbers or their mail address. Each one
of us has to pitch-in, in order for this reunion to be a success, and the
first one of many more.
Hope to hear from you this week so I can block the Hotel rooms. Take
care
and God Bless each one in your family.
Your cousin and sister,
Zulema
