Hello: Here is a brief outline of us in Halifax....

I went to the University of Toronto, taking Math and Physics under a military programme called the "Regular Officer Training Plan" of the Royal Canadian Navy. I did three years afterwards, teaching Math and Physics to Officer Cadets in Victoria, British Columbia (on Canada's Pacific coast). After that I took Oceanography in Halifax and worked for a bit at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography ('Regional Tidal Officer'), also in Halifax, then took a job in La Spezia, Italy with NATO (Research Scientist at the Saclant ASW Research Centre) for three years. We did a lot of touring about in an old van, as we had lots of holidays.

I was married with Margaret (who is from Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada) just before the job at the Bedford Institute--Margaret was a Librarian then. Our daughter, Mary, was born in Italy (Pisa), and we returned to Canada in 1976, at which point, I also became a Librarian and worked at the Dalhousie Law Library in Halifax. Our second and third daughters (Susan and Ann) were born in Halifax. Margaret stayed home, and after our third daughter was born, decided to take in a couple of more babies. She has continued this until now, just taking two at at time, until they are two years old.

After the Law Library, I was System Manager for an automated library system here in Halifax, then went to the Provincial Library for a bit. Right now, I am with a start up Internet company in downtown Halifax.

I have reached 'freedom 55' and can quit at any time.. just have to decide which direction to take...

If you want to see where we live, there is a web page called mapblast, where you can enter any address and get an instant map--have you tried it? You need the postal code - B3H 1K7 and Halifax, NS, or you can click here for an instant map.

Our daughters have web pages (see links in family tree)---Mary is in Toronto, and Susan and Ann are still at home.

We have had quite a mild winter here--almost no snow, and many days not even below freezing. The weather is moderated by the ocean--much the same as Boston, but our season's are about one month later--ie the trees do not leaf out until about mid May..

Margaret's parents lived with us from 1984--her Mother died after only a few months, but her father was with us until 1990, when he died also.

We have two cats also....
