I am a Counsellor-Therapist practitioner in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. In September of 2000 I will be starting a private practice. My intent is to work with people on personal issues (counselling - psychotherapy). I also plan to do some Educational, Vocational and Career counselling as well as work with addictions (with specific interest in Cessation of Smoking). My background of education and training consists of the following:

• M.Ed. - Counselling ( Acadia University, Wolfville NS) with additional ( masters level) courses in Clinical Psychology, and Pastoral Psychology. Some issues of interest were: grief, shame, and forgiveness. 1993.
  
  
• BA - Honors Psychology degree - 5 years, 25 credits (Saint Mary’s University, Halifax NS). Honors thesis - "Reducing Repetitive Stereotypies in Autistic Children through non-contingent presentation of Preferred Auditory Stimulation." 1990.
  
  
• Clinical experience, and much study, in the Addictions field.
  
  
• Experience in Employment counselling, Career, and Educational counselling.
  
  
• Certification in Conflict Resolution, Mediation, Facilitation, and Negotiation

Psychosynthesis is the model that I very much prefer.

In my opinion, if there is a model that can truly be considered "holistic", it is Psychosynthesis. I’d like to say more, because I think much of the material on the Net regarding psychosynthesis can easily be misunderstood. Although there are some excellent workshops for personal growth; from a therapeutic point of view, Psychosynthesis is not an approach/model that lends itself well to brief introductions or Crash courses.
