The past year has again been an unsettled one for the Internal Committee, with the chairperson changing yet again, when the former chair resigned from the Board and the committee for personal reasons. The committee has not met as such; however, most of the current members are Board members, who do meet monthly. This has been part of the problem, as all the Board members are already overcommitted. One of the first tasks that the Internal Committee must accomplish in the coming year will be to expand its membership.

The general terms of reference for the Internal Committee are as follows:

• Engage and involve the membership in the Chebucto Community Net
• Promote the wide spread use of Chebucto Community Net resources
• Provide information and instruction on the use of the Chebucto Community Net
• Organize and orientate volunteers/contributors to the Chebucto Community Net

There are currently 188 Neighbourhood Accounts, of which 140 are paid for, and 48 have been granted a fee waiver. There are 131 Non-Profit Basic Neighbourhood Accounts, 70% of the total number of accounts. As well as these new-style Neighbourhood Accounts, which require a yearly renewal, there are also 65 old Information Provider accounts, and there needs to be an ongoing effort to convert these into contemporary Neighbourhood Accounts. (There are also 362 mailing lists used by our groups.) The Internal Committee needs to create and maintain effective ongoing communication with these groups, to insure that Chebucto provides a service that is needed and used by local community groups.

As well as making contact with our Neighbourhood Accounts, the Internal Committee needs to reach out to our individual members, both to see how we can help them, and to see how they might be willing to help us. As a non-profit community net, our mission is to provide the services our members want, including information and training. It's also appropriate that we provide opportunities for our members to contribute to the continued viability of CCN. Of course, we need to be careful that we don't overcommunicate with members. The committee needs to work out the best ways to keep in touch.

I hope that the coming year will see much more activity from the Internal Committee leading to much better results. I'd like to invite each of you to consider becoming involved with the committee to help this hope become reality.
