INTERFACES - Pretty vs. Simple There was also a discussion on the First Class type interface vs. the traditional text-base. Everybody said that simple and accessible were the most important features. Although First Class [a Mac/Windows interface product demonstrated at the conference] may be easier to use with its graphical interface, not everyone has access to a computer that could support it (ie. a mouse, a colour monitor). It is more important to have an interface that works with the lowest form of technology, than a pretty one. Several of the discussion groups strongly agreed -- vt100 access is essential, since many grass-roots users and information providers will be using old and/or donated equipment.
