Custom Logins

Due to popular demand, and our never ending need for funds to keep the Chebcuto Community Net up and running, the CCN Board approved the assignment of 'custom logins' to supporting members (people who have donated an amount of 50 dollars or more for individual membership, or 100 dollars for family membership) to customize their login names. This new policy allows supporting members to login using a name of their choosing instead of a system generated login name. This chosen name also shows up in the outgoing email address. You can select any name you wish, as long as it isn't offensive, obscene or already used.

To register your custom name simply type 'gcustom' ('g' for goto and 'custom' at the goto prompt), this will lead you to a page where you can reserve your custom name. When we receive your donation we will activate your custom name. Any email going to your old login will be forwarded to your new one.

If you already have a current membership, and wish a custom name, you can send in the difference between your current membership and the supporting member level (50 dollars for individuals, and 100 dollars per family)) and you can get your custom name activated. If you already are a supporting member, simply reserve you custom login.

To get your custom name activated, send in a cheque or money order for the proper amount, and don't forget to write your chosen custom name on the back (if you are already a supporting member send email to office@ccn·cs·dal·ca, and request your custom name to be activated), to:

Chebucto Community Net
c/o Dept. Math, Stats, and Computing Science
Dalhousie University
Halifax, Nova Scotia
B3H 3J5

You will be notified by email when your custom name is ready.
