Hi Jim & All=2C=20
You make a very good point about the range.=20
I got my range from the Dendroica online site that showed the PEFA limite=
d to the eastern seaboard and going no further east in the arctic than the =
northwest coast of Hudson Bay. I checked Sibleys and it showed the range a=
s covering all of North America in migration. Other field guides had variou=
s ranges=3B some covering the northern part of Labrador some not.=20
I would have thought there would have been some pretty close consensus of=
the range of bird species between field guides but apparently not. Why is =
the range so variable between guides with PEFA and is this the norm with al=
l species? All the best.=20

Fritz=2C it is indeed a great story=2C and especially so for northern Labra=
dor=2C but check the total range for the peregrine falcon -- I'll venture t=
hat it is not out of the range of the arctic peregrines at all. Cheers fro=
m Jim

Hi All=2C
I spoke recently to a ships captain who asked me to ID a bird that had b=
een chased onto his boat and actually into the ships cabin by a Peregrine F=
alcon. when I saw a photo=2C the bird turned out to be a Common Nighthawk.
What makes this interesting is it took place 10-15 kilometers off Eclipse=
Harbour near the northern tip of Labrador. The date was around July 22nd.=
=20
The Nighthawk recovered and eventually flew off unharmed.=20
A Peregrine chasing a Nighthawk into a ships cabin would be an interesti=
ng story if it happened in Nova Scotia=3B but off the coast of northern Lab=
rador=3B far north of the range of both birds makes it even more notable. A=
ll the best.
