I went on a birding trip to Grand Pre with my ornithology class today and
had some nice birds despite the bad wind. The highlight was definitely a
Parasitic Jaeger which zoomed in from nowhere and started chasing a gull
right next to the motel on Evangeline Beach. There was also a small flock of
black-bellied plovers and many distant peeps along the beach. While driving
near the junction of W and E Long Island Road, I spotted a Rough-legged Hawk
flying by. It landed on a nearby tree I got some decent looks of it. I think
this is one of the earliest ones I've seen.
