I was surprised this past Thursday to hear a Red-winged Blackbird singing in
my backyard. The song was somewhat weak/brief, but certainly recognizable.
It was in a flock of blackbirds, and though I didn't get a great look at the
flock, I also noticed a female Brown Headed Cowbird in the mix.

There was a Song Sparrow singing in the yard as well--always nice to hear so
early in the year.

American Tree Sparrow showed up in the yard for the first time this week,
too
