Sad Ken, tis the season unfortunately. I think this winter will be hard on
hatch year birds. We see a lot of birds of prey and it always seems like the
numbers are higher in winters when the climate is harsh. Haven't had a pile
of Saw Whets this year but had had quite a few Barreds.

On a positive note, we have a Red-Tailed Hawk in that was hit by a car about
6 weeks ago that broke its leg. Just took all of the pins out from the leg
repair and looks like it should be fine after some rehabilitation. Those
ones are always rewarding ( even though they are high maintenance).
