Even those four species are not totally unprotected. The NS General Regula=
tion 3 (3) specifies that 'Rock dove (common pigeon)'=2C 'crow'=2C 'English=
Sparrow'=2C and 'starling' "may be hunted ... at any time of year by the o=
wner or occupier of a property or the agent ... for the purpose of preventi=
ng damage to the property". Of these=2C only the crow gets a general hunti=
ng season 3 (2)=2C from Sept. 1 - March 31. =20
Section 5 of the same regulation allows for the hunting=2C trapping=2C or k=
illing of any non-endangered species causing harm to a farm or private prop=
erty by the owner or occupier (or his or her agent) with a Nuisance Wildlif=
e Permit=2C subject to its conditions. Presumably=2C that would not apply =
to the federally protected species=2C although I believe that there is a si=
milar federal permit.

It's easier to answer=2C "What isn't protected?"

European Starling
House Sparrow
American Crow
Rock Pigeon

That's off the top of my head.
