MARCH 30, 2011 - Yesterday Bob Thexton of Bridgewater told me that,
upon his return from Florida about 10 days ago?, he discovered an
orange-crowned warbler that was visiting his suet feeder, and still
is doing so. He sought help on the identification and is confident
now that it is correct.

Two people reported seeing flying bats today: Glenys Gibson saw one
southwest of Canning at about 7 p.m. at the Dept. of Transport
building along Hwy. 358; and Fred Phillips saw one tonight in New Minas.

MARCH 31, 2011 - The ravens just north of the Acadia Arena were in
and near the nest in the pine woodlot.

Just west of the Arena parking lot, American elm and red maple
swollen flower-buds are still closed, but the nearby planted silver
maples have lots of flower-buds opening now but with just the tips of
the red catkins showing (no progress on these since my first report
of one slightly open bud back on March 21).

Still no honey bees noticed yet at the oodles of now-open crocuses
and other early flowers in residential yards.

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville
