All:

Ten of us set out on the NS Bird Society field trip to Martinique
Beach this morning, and walked to the second point on Bayers Islands,
now owned thankfully by the Nature Conservancy of Canada (and not
really islands, as joined to the beach). We found some of the usual
birds - including few Black & White-winged Scoters, a Great Blue
Heron, 16 Sanderlings, about a dozen Dunlin, about 9 Ipswich Sparrows,
and Piping Plovers were absent, but I hope pending, for the first time
in many years on this trip. On the way back via the shore road (207)
we added a few commonplace species.

The exhilarating walk was the best part of the day.

Cheers, Ian

Ian McLaren
