I've had a male scarlet tanager attending the suet for the past week. He seemed to arrive with the hoards of purple finches but his different colouring caught my eye. I've been unable to get close enough for a photo as he is very skittish. At first I thought he was a red crossbill until I saw the beak. This is a first for my yard. Ken MacAulay Port Mouton, NS
