Hello Bugsters - went to a woods road that I had visited April 30
in search of Elfins in Mt. Uniacke area. Hard to believe that was 3 weeks
ago and had nt
seen a lep since until today . I was rewarded with 4 species of
spring leps today. The weather was cool with clouds and sunny breaks
and odd wind gusts. But in sheltered parts of the road and on the
bog leps were to be found : (unfortunately no Henrys Elfin tbf)
2 Hoary Elfin ( C.polios)
10+ Brown Elfin (C. augustinus)
1 Spring Azure form "lucia" ( Celastrina ladon ssp )
1 Mustard White nectaring on Dandelion ( Pieris napi = oleracea)

Also encountered first odes of the spring that being a Leuchorrhinia
sp most likely hudsonica (all teneral)

By my records these particular species are approx 1 week later than usual
sighting , but , considering the cool & damp spring we've been having they
are still in well within the timelines of their flite time .
