I saw a mourning cloak butterfly this morning during the N.S.B.S. Hant's Co=
unty
field trip. This was on Elliott Rd off Rt 202 in South Rawdon.
Also one flying unidentified white coloured butterfly in Windsor.
Cheers

Hello Bugsters - went to a woods road that I had visited April 30=20
in search of Elfins in Mt. Uniacke area. Hard to believe that was 3 weeks =
ago and had nt=20
seen a lep since until today . I was rewarded with 4 species of=20
spring leps today. The weather was cool with clouds and sunny breaks=20
and odd wind gusts. But in sheltered parts of the road and on the=20
bog leps were to be found : (unfortunately no Henrys Elfin tbf)
2 Hoary Elfin ( C.polios)
10+ Brown Elfin (C. augustinus)
1 Spring Azure form "lucia" ( Celastrina ladon ssp )
1 Mustard White nectaring on Dandelion ( Pieris napi =3D oleracea)
Also encountered first odes of the spring that being a Leuchorrhinia=20
sp most likely hudsonica (all teneral)=20
=20
By my records these particular species are approx 1 week later than usual s=
ighting =2C but =2C considering the cool & damp spring we=92ve been having =
they are still in well within the timelines of their flite time .
