Subject: [NatureNS] big heron in residential Wolfville at night

JULY 27, 2011 - Late this evening Wendy Elliott had a weird thing =
happen to her in residential Wolfville. She was walking her dog on =
lower Kent Ave. at 11 p.m., about 3 houses from Main St., when she =
flushed a BIG HERON. From her description of its height, it must have =
been a great blue heron, but why it was in this residential area with no =
ponds? is a mystery. The heron only flew a few metres and landed in a =
yard there. Wendy was joined by a jogger and watched this bird walking =
at fairly close range, it was not acting scared. =20

When she got back up to her home, she sent her husband Steve Slipp =
back down the avenue, but he did not see the heron.

  Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.
