Hello All=2C
While out fishing on the waters of Halifax harbour today=2C I saw an Oc=
ean Sun Fish
at about 12:00. It was seen traveling slowly in a northerly direction about=
 200m off
Sandwich Pt=2C which is on the west side of the harbour between Fergusons C=
ove and
Herring Cove. It was first seen swimming vertically with the dorsal fin out=
 of the
water but laid over on its side as the boat passed beside it. I have a quit=
e good photo
which I can e-mail to anyone who is interested once I get it down loaded fr=
om the
camera. I estimate that it was about 1.5m in height and length.
I found it worthy to note that there were very few birds around. D.C. C=
ormorant and=20
small numbers of the usual gulls=2C and two C Eider were the total.
Perhaps for the first time=2C no seals were seen. Also=2C no whales=2C =
dolphins or porpoises.
The fishing was also slow. Three fishers came up with only two small pol=
ack and about
twelve mackeral.
Cheers
