A pair of barn swallows have still been frantically gathering insects in the
neighbourhood. I haven't seen them today but they were at it yesterday just
before I went to pick up Steve. Way late for a nest to fledge for them I
think. Hope they will be ok.
We still have a Robin feeding someone in a nest across the drive in my
neighbours snowball bush.

The song sparrow still seems to have a slowpoke over there as well although
she has brought five to a feeder this week.

A few hummingbirds are still here but the swarms have stopped. I have one
doing the swooping thing today. A bit confused I would say. I also have a
solitary Grackle juvenile coming around while thankfully the big numbers are
gone........I so hope they don't come back enmasse as they did this spring
past. They will bankrupt us!!
There has been a beautiful bird hanging about the past couple days. I
believe it to be a female black throated blue warbler. The male was about
earlier. I would not however call her nondescript as the bird pages say.
I hear what sounds like an evening Gross beak calling from time to time. In
the fog the otherday we drove over to Summerville (here) and there was a
great blue Heron calling there. It seemed to be cleaning up on good sized
minnows or small fish in the vicinity of the small drainage ditch from the
frog pond as you drive into the park.
Best regards,
Marg Millard, White Point, Queens
