Here is a photo of a small pointy shelled snail common at my cottage, plentiful on the daylilies. The shell is on the order of a centimeter long, if that.  Is this the same as the pointy snails you mentioned ?

Hi Rick, of course I went out to see if there were more on the pea plants, got dampened by a shower and no  snails that I can see. There were half a dozen yesterday wouldn't you know. But yes,  this seems to be the shape as I remember it. I did order the book and will pop some of the critters into a bottle of alcohol just to see what they are. I am curious. I don't exactly miss the big slugs we had a couple years ago but should have followed up on the as well. Perhaps I am procrastinating.....
