Hi Paul, others;=20
neat! Buttonbush at Bangs Falls on Medway River! I've been coming =
there for years, but have never noticed it. There is an extensive =
population of another member of the Atlantic Coastal Plain Flora, =
Catbrier (or Round-leaved Greenbrier, Smilax rotundifolia) on a small =
islet in the river just a km or two upriver.=20
A non-traditional place to look for Coastal Plain species would be =
Ship Harbour River (below Lake Charlotte in Halifax County), which =
consists of a series of lakes with low shorelines and widely fluctuating =
water levels and three very short rapids. A great canoe route, BTW.

  Subject: [NatureNS] Buttonbush

  Hi All
Last year I found a group of Buttonbush on the Martins River.
This was the farthest North East it had been found.
Yesterday we were on the Medway River at Bangs Falls
and the banks were lined with it. One of natures mysteries why
a plant would be so abundant at the end of its range and then none
after that. Whatever explains it is not obvious - to me at least.
  Good paddling
  Paul
