Was at Sullivan's Pond later this afternoon but did not see the chat, but did see the adult male Eurasian Widgeon and an odd looking duck (to me anyway) that may have been a male Gadwell. One for my 'list'! I also saw a mink scampering along the ice close to the edge of the pond. The American Coot was foraging on the grassy bank next to Banook Canoe Club with the Mallards. It appeared bright, lively & healthy. That bird surely moves around. One day it's up at the beach of Graham's Grove, then down by the canoe club the next day.
As for Cardinals, a male Northern Cardinal has been appearing at my backyard feeders sporadically these last few days. A lovely sight within the dismal hoards of European Starlings and horrible pigeons. There has also been a Hairy Woodpecker & male White-breasted Nuthatch showing up with a couple of BC chickadees and 1 Song Sparrow.
Did see a small flock of American Robins back in the greenbelt around 9 o'clock, just before I went to work.
I also stopped by Red Bridge Pond shortly after 8AM in hopes of seeing the Gallinule but I did not, during that short period of time I was able to be there, but, did throw into the reedy area (by the daycare center) a big bag of greens, hulled raw sunflower seeds, some corn meal & chopped raw salmon.
