Hi,

I haven't got to see the Glaucous gull reported recently in Port Williams,
but at noon today I wondered if the nearby (as the gull flies) Wolfville
pond might have better luck - and indeed there was a 1st W. Glaucous there.
I was immediately struck by its squat, heavy shape compared to the nearby
Icelands, due to the larger size and shorter wings, the small eye, the
total lack of dark markings on the primaries, and by the large, heavy bill
with parallel sides - mostly pink with a black tip. I was able to get a few
distant digiscoped record shots in the cold wind.

There was a M. Ring-necked duck on the Port Wms. pond this morning.

Richard
