In the Central Caribou area we encountered a large flock of 35 Common =
Grackles.
Once again the number of ducks around the harbours in Pictou is =
extremely low this winter. =20

around Pictou and Caribou Harbours. </FONT></DIV>

<STRONG>Ring-billed Gulls</STRONG> at the Aberdeen Parking lot near =
MacDonalds.=20
I counted 100 there yesterday. Numbers had dwindled to 20-30 over the =
winter so=20
birds are moving through now. </FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>At the outflow of NSPC in Trenton, =
there was a=20
single <STRONG>Killdeer</STRONG> and an imm <STRONG>Great =
Cormorant</STRONG> in=20
the same place I saw it yesterday. This&nbsp;cormorant was not seen this =
winter=20
before this. There were still 6 <STRONG>American Wigeon</STRONG> at Big =
Gut=20
bridge, just outside Hillside. </FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>At the Abercrombie meter plant, a =
<STRONG>Bald=20
Eagle</STRONG> flushed from the nest as a second eagle came in with a =

of grass. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>There did not seem to be any eagle =
activity at=20
nests at Abercrombie Pt. just before the Northern Pulp plant or at the =
nest=20
along the tracks near the Granton turnoff from the TCH&nbsp;106 but =
there have=20
been eagles near these nests and will likely be used.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial></FONT>&nbsp;</DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>At Pier C an imm <STRONG>Glaucous =
Gull</STRONG>=20
remains&nbsp;. It has been present most of the winter. There were =
handfuls of=20
Robins in most locations. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>We watched a Red-breasted Merganser =
jostle and=20
juggle a flounder many times before&nbsp; the fish disappeared down the=20
merganser throat. It was quite amusing to watch the head jerking =
required to get=20
the width of the flounder down the throat. </FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>An Eagle was present just below the =
nest at Seaview=20
Cemetery in Pictou, but not sure if there was a second bird in the nest =
